What happens at the end of every summer, features the fruit of the Ontario farmer's labour, has more feet than you can count, and just celebrated its 135th birthday?!
It's the Maberly Fair!
An annual Lanark County community event since 1882, The Maberly Fair is an old-fashioned country fair held on the last Saturday of August.
Rain or shine, come hail or high water...
The Ontario farmer works (and plays) all the same, so we do the same... live entertainment, fresh food and a wide variety of shows, exhibits and contests for all ages: horsemanship, livestock, horticulture, baking, quilting, crafts and so much more!
My family has such a great time at The Maberly Fair every year! The Fairgrounds are beautiful, the exhibits seem to get better every year, and the atmosphere is so positive and welcoming.Everyone
Experience the Simple Joys- and Infectious Community Spirit- of a Real Country Fair.... The Maberly Fair: Celebrating Rural Ontario, Since 1882.
But if you're expecting the usual expensive, overrated spectacle of rides, tantrums and junk food… then the Maberly Fair will certainly surprise you! There are no roller coasters or ferris wheels. No whack-a-mole games or cheap, oversized stuffed animals suspended from midway rafters.
This is an agricultural fair, people...
A Country Fair: Celebrating the Ontario Farmer
And it’s important, gosh darn it!
It's about connecting with the community, and celebrating our rural Ontario culture.
And having tons of fun, of course! Along with all the games and exhibitions, we have a few exciting featured events every year at the Maberly Fair: a parade, the famous Zucchini Race, an on-stage cake decorating contest, 4H events for kids and more!
Every year has a theme too! In 2017, for example, our theme was the celebration of Canada’s 150th Birthday. You can see the details for this year’s fair at the top of this page, and read the FAIR PROGRAM for a more comprehensive look.
There's something for everyone at the Maberly Fair... we have events and exhibits in age categories ranging from kids as young as 2 to seniors over 65. So bring the whole family (every generation of Ontario farmers)!
